What's Changed This Year

For our returning families: here's what's new for 2026-2027. We've spent the summer making our programs better, and some of these changes come directly from what we learned teaching your kids.

Across all three programs

  • Smaller classes: Club Scientific and KidzArt capped at 15, LEGO Robotics at 12
  • More in-depth instructor training than ever before
  • A digital class calendar for every school that syncs to your phone
  • New email system with automated class updates, and a new phone system
  • A Family ID code for quicker, more secure pickups, same as camp

And yes, our price is changing too. Classes are now $25, up $4 from last year, and we want to be straight with you about why. Our costs have risen sharply for two years running, and we absorbed them without raising after-school prices, because we don't believe in just passing every cost along to our families. We're in this together. But this year's changes are real investments: smaller classes mean fewer families sharing the cost of each instructor, quality supplies cost more than disposable ones, and we pay our instructors well above the industry standard, including a paid hour of prep before every single class, so the person teaching your child has practiced that lesson and knows it cold. We'd rather raise the price honestly than quietly cut corners on your kids. And if the math is ever a hardship for your family, reach out to us directly. We're a small local business, and we'd always rather talk than lose you.

Club Scientific

  • Every single lesson now explicitly walks through the scientific method
  • New hiring focus: current and retired science and STEM teachers
  • Deeper instructor training in both the science and the teaching
  • Going greener: fewer disposable supplies, replaced with higher-quality materials built to last

Here's the thread connecting all of it: depth. Your child won't just do the experiment; they'll ask the question, make the prediction, run the test, and interpret the results, week after week, until it becomes how they think. And we're investing in the people delivering that. We're actively recruiting current and retired science and STEM teachers, people who know both the content and the classroom, and training every instructor more deeply than we ever have. When your child asks the instructor "but why did that happen?", we want the answer to be worth the question.

KidzArt

  • Deeper focus on process art: skill development and the creative journey, not identical take-home pieces
  • Structure stays: every week still teaches a composition step by step
  • Students who are ready are encouraged to go off script and make it their own
  • Some projects may span more than one week, because real techniques deserve real time

Here's the heart of it: what matters more, the picture or the kid making it? Research on arts education backs what we've seen in our own classrooms: guided, structured projects build the foundation (motor skills, media handling, learning to see shapes and follow a sequence), while open-ended creative choice is where the deepest growth happens: thinking, language, and creative confidence. So we're doing both, on purpose. The shift is in where the emphasis lands: on the skills your child is building, not on whether their piece matches the sample. Expect the take-home art to look less uniform across the class this year. Twenty different pieces means twenty kids making their own decisions, and that's exactly what we're after.

LEGO Robotics

  • Every class opens with a story premise that sets the scene for the build
  • Each lesson hones in on one engineering concept or one new piece of code
  • Standard classes now run entirely on LEGO Education SPIKE Essentials
  • Dedicated SPIKE Prime classes for upper grades coming at select schools

One change returning families will notice: our standard classes now run entirely on LEGO Education SPIKE Essentials. Last year we ran mixed sets, and we learned that it split our instructors' attention and shortchanged everyone. Here's what surprised even us: Essentials has far more depth than most people realize. Some of our most impressive builds and most sophisticated code last year came from 4th and 5th graders on Essentials, and most students move toward Prime long before they've explored what Essentials coding can really do. Prime's pieces look cooler, but its builds are genuinely difficult to complete and code within a single class hour, which means less finishing and less pride at pickup. So our standard classes go deep on one platform where every student can master the fundamentals, and for older builders who are truly ready, we're working with select schools to offer dedicated SPIKE Prime classes for upper grades, where those bigger builds get the time they deserve. More on those soon.

How It Works

1. Find your school

We partner directly with elementary schools across St. Johns County. Check the school list below to see which programs are offered at your child's school and on which day, then register right from your school's section.

2. Register online

Registration takes just a few minutes. Pay by credit card at checkout, and monthly payment plans are available if you'd prefer to spread it out.

3. We take it from there

On class day, there's no driving or shuttling for you. At dismissal, students head to extended day, where our instructors meet them, take attendance, and gather the group before walking together to class. Classes run for one hour in a designated classroom provided by the school. Afterward, our instructors walk students to a designated parent pickup location, where families can pick up about 5 to 10 minutes after class ends. Have your Family ID code ready for a quick, secure handoff. Exact dismissal procedures vary a bit from school to school, so check your school's procedures page for specifics.

4. New adventure every week

Whether it's an art composition, a science experiment, or a robot build, every week is something brand new. All materials are provided, so your child never needs to bring a thing.

And if it's not a fit? We stand behind our classes with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If your child doesn't love it and you withdraw within the first two weeks, we'll issue a full refund. That means trying us is completely risk free.

Our Classrooms Belong to the Kids

In our programs, students don't just attend class. They own it. Kids help set up the classroom, and they help clean it up. They learn to take care of the space, the materials, and each other. It's a small thing that builds a big thing: a real sense of ownership, responsibility, and belonging. When your child walks into our classroom, they're not a customer being served an activity. They're a member of a community they help create, every single week.

Our Programs

Student with test tube at Club Scientific

Club Scientific

Where kids learn how to think, not just what to think.

Every Club Scientific lesson is built around the scientific method. Your child won't just watch cool experiments happen. They'll ask questions, make predictions, test their ideas, and figure out what the results actually mean. Week after week, they're practicing the same process real scientists use, and it becomes a way of thinking they carry into everything else they do.

Each week brings a brand new hands-on project, from chemistry to physics to life science. Kids go home with something they made and a story about what they discovered. All materials are provided, right at your child's school, in the hour after dismissal.

Classes are capped at 15 students this year, so every child gets real attention from their instructor, and every child gets their hands on the experiment. No watching from the back row.

KidzArt student with completed paintings

KidzArt

It's not about the picture. It's about the kid making it.

Every week, our instructors teach a new composition and subject, along with the drawing, painting, or sculpting skills that go with it. But here's what makes KidzArt different: the sample on the easel is a starting point, not a finish line. We want every child to make it their own. For our youngest artists, that starts with structure: guided compositions that build the toolbox of skills, media handling, and confidence. As those skills grow, so does the freedom. When a student is comfortable and ready, we encourage them to take that week's composition and skills and turn them into something completely different, something that suits their imagination, their heart, and their personality.

That's process art. The focus is on skill development and the creative journey, not producing fifteen identical copies of the same picture. Two kids at the same table will go home with two completely different pieces, and that's exactly the point. Along the way, your child builds real technique with real media, and something even more valuable: the confidence to trust their own ideas.

Classes are capped at 15 students, so your child gets individual encouragement and guidance, not just table space.

LEGO Robotics

Build it. Code it. Bring it to life.

Every week features a brand new build and a new coding concept. Class kicks off with a fun premise to set the scene, then the instructor demos the week's robot in action and introduces the new mechanism or code block the kids will be learning. Then comes the best part: during class, every child works with a full LEGO Education SPIKE kit. No sharing pieces, no taking turns, no waiting to participate. Each student builds the week's robot and writes the code themselves, with instructors checking in at key points along the way.

Once their robot is built and coded, the learning keeps going. Every lesson includes three bonus challenges that push kids to modify their build or their code, and students who are ready can move into free build: design any robot they can imagine, as long as they code it too. As students grow, so does the challenge, with coders progressing from icon-based blocks to word-based programming when they're ready.

Underneath all that play, serious learning is happening. Building develops fine motor skills and spatial reasoning. Coding teaches computational thinking: sequencing, cause and effect, the same logic that underpins all real programming. And because kids learn best when they feel safe, encouraged, and free to explore, our instructors keep every session playful on purpose.

Classes are capped at 12 students, our smallest class size, so every child gets hands-on help with both the building and the coding.

Please note: LEGO kits and robots are class equipment and stay with the program. Each week's robot is built, coded, and played with in class, then taken apart to make way for the next week's build. Students do not take home LEGO pieces or robots.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grades can participate?

KidzArt and Club Scientific serve grades K-5, with kindergartners joining in spring semester so they have the fall to settle into the school routine. LEGO Robotics serves grades 1-5.

How big are classes?

KidzArt and Club Scientific are capped at 15 students. LEGO Robotics is capped at 12. We keep classes small on purpose, so every child gets real attention.

How much do classes cost?

Our pricing is simple: $25 per class. Because classes meet on different days of the week at different schools, the number of class days in a fall or spring session varies, so each program at each school is priced based on exactly how many classes that session includes. We intentionally don't charge a flat monthly subscription. Some months your child has five classes and some months only three, and we believe you should only pay for the classes your child actually gets. You'll see the exact session price when you register, and you can view your school's class calendar to see every class date.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes, two of them! Register siblings and save 5%. Sign up for more than one program or more than one session and save 5%. Enrichment is better together, whether that's a brother and sister in the same program or one kid exploring both art and robotics.

Who supervises my child?

Our trained instructors supervise students the entire time, from the moment they meet them at extended day until they are released to an authorized adult at pickup.

Where can I find the Code of Conduct?

As academic programs, all of our students are expected to follow our Code of Conduct, which can be found in full here. Students who cannot follow the Code of Conduct may be dismissed from future classes.

Can my child walk or bike home after class like they usually do?

No. Per our contract with the school district, we cannot release students as walkers or bike riders, even if that's how they normally get home. Every child must be released to an authorized adult: either the school's extended day program or a family member or other adult you listed during registration.

Why does class start a while after dismissal? What is my child doing until then?

Dismissal at some schools takes time, and we'd rather not lose class minutes waiting for the last few students to arrive. So we build a buffer between dismissal and our official start time. During that window, your child isn't sitting around. They're with our instructors the whole time, settling in, making friends, and building relationships with the kids and adults they'll see every week. As soon as the whole group is gathered, we head to the classroom, and when everyone arrives early, class simply starts early. Some days that means your child gets a longer class, which is exactly what we're hoping for.

Why is the listed end time longer than one hour after class starts?

Because we protect your child's full hour of class. Depending on the school and where our classroom is located, walking students to the parent pickup location can take five to ten minutes. If we crammed that walk inside the hour, your child would lose class time to hallway logistics, and we're not willing to do that. So the listed end time includes a built-in window for the walk to pickup. The class itself is a full hour of art, science, or robotics, every single time.

Where do the classes take place?

Each of our schools provides us with a designated classroom for our classes. See your school's procedures page for information specific to your child's school.

Does my child need to bring anything to class?

No need to bring anything! All materials will be provided by your child's instructor.

Does my child take home their robot or LEGO pieces?

No. LEGO kits and robots are class equipment and stay with the program. Each week's robot is built, coded, and played with during class, then taken apart so the next week's build can begin. Every child works with a full kit during class, so there is no sharing of pieces, but the kits themselves remain with us. In our science and art programs, take-home projects come home regularly; in Robotics, what your child takes home is the skill.

Do the projects repeat year to year?

Our programs run on rotating curriculums spanning five-plus years, so your child can stay with us for their entire elementary journey and keep encountering new material, and we're constantly developing new and innovative lessons on top of that. A small number of favorites do return: a few robotics builds come back around, and occasionally we'll revisit an experiment to explore a different side of the science. Even then, returning students bring new skills to it and get something new out of it.

Is there a calendar of class dates?

Yes! Every school has its own class calendar showing every scheduled class date for the session. Find your school in the list above and tap "View Class Calendar" to see it. You can view it anytime, or subscribe with one tap so it syncs right into your own phone's calendar app (Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, and more), so you always know when your child has class and can set your own reminders for pickup.

How do I know what my child is doing in class?

We'll send periodic updates on what students have been working on, including ideas for follow-up at home. We do our best to include extra resources (videos, book suggestions, simple activities) to help your child keep exploring the ideas and topics from class. Learning doesn't have to stop when the hour is up.

Will I get photos of my child in class?

We love sharing photos of our students in action, and we know parents love seeing them. However, taking photos at any school requires written permission from that school's principal, in addition to the photo release you sign during registration. We're actively working with our partner school principals on this, but we can't guarantee photos at every school. Where we have permission, we'll share as often as we can.

What if a class is canceled?

Cancellations are very rare, and usually only occur due to extreme weather. If school is cancelled, then our classes would be cancelled as well. If a class were to be cancelled for some reason, we notify all parents via text message and email as early as possible so that alternate arrangements can be made.

How do I pay?

You can pay online by credit card when you register! We also have monthly payment plans available at check-out, with zero fees. Splitting it up costs you nothing extra.

What is your Tax ID/EIN number?

Our Federal EIN is 99-1552451.

Can we try a class before registering?

We wish we could offer trial classes, but due to the administrative logistics of working with our partner schools, we aren't able to. That's a big part of why we offer our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee instead: if your child doesn't love it within the first two weeks, we'll refund you in full. It's a trial, just with a safety net.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

First two weeks: Every class is backed by our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If your child doesn't love it and you withdraw within the first two weeks of the session, we'll issue a full refund, no questions asked.

After the first two weeks: When you register, you're committing to the full session. Our small class caps mean each spot is reserved for your child, and materials and staffing are planned around every enrolled student. If you need to withdraw mid-session and there's a waitlist for the class, we'll work to fill your child's spot. If we can, we'll refund you for the remaining weeks of the session, minus a $20 cancellation fee.

Please note: We do not issue refunds for non-attendance (sick days, vacations, etc.), as your child's spot is reserved and cannot be resold week to week.

Still deciding? Here's the honest math.

$25 per class. All materials included. A full refund within the first two weeks if your child doesn't love it. The only thing you can't get back is a spot in a class that fills.
