Learning with Hands-On Activities

PhotosFor years educators have stressed that students learn better "by doing" - especially in the sciences. Students of all ages learn more science-content and skills when they engage in investigation and discovery using everyday materials and the basic equipment of science.

How can this learning take place?
Our carefully designed inquiry centered lessons that involve children with hands-on activies which capture children's natural curiosity, stimulate their interest in science and teach them important science topics along with critical thinking skills.

It's unique!
Our unique Science Club program is designed to meet the needs of children in grades K-6. ClubScientific lessons help engage students in observation, measurement, identification of properties, and experimentation involving life, earth and physical science concepts. The units are rigorously researched by science educators with the help of teachers and children. The results are lessons that students can enjoy and genuinely learn from. Science was never this much fun!

Dozens of program topics!
Rocketry, Chemistry, Paleontology, Forensics, Weather, Flight, Technology and many other disciplines of science. All ClubScientific lessons are designed to help with the development of the following scientific process skills: observing, classifying, comparing, measuring, critical thinking, predicting, hypothesizing, sequencing and experimentation.

ClubScientific believes in parental involvement. In every ClubScientific class, your child will receive a lesson card describing the lesson with some suggestions for extending the learning experience at home. After each semester session, students will receive a science medal to recognize their Scientific achievements.

Each science enrichment SEMESTER lasts for fourteen classes(approximately fourteen weeks. Classes meet once a week for approximately 60 minutes. Class size is 8-10 students, per instructor, with the cost of $210.00 per student per Semester.

2011-12 After-School Program Semester Descriptions

Fall Semester

Fourteen projects starting August, 2011

Biological Brainiacs
Topics covered include Animal Instincts, Chemistry Chaos, and Something’s Fishy! This fall we will explore how animals have adapted to their habitats; experiment with chemical compounds; and discover the mysteries lurking in our ocean depths. Join us as we explore the life science of our planet.

Spring Semester

Fourteen projects starting January, 2012

Scientific Superstars
Topics covered include Invention Convention, The Great Scientists, and Robot Rumble. Ever wondered what inspired great scientists of the past? Ever thought “I could grow up and invent something life changing?” Were you ever curious about how robots actually work? Then, this spring could be a great scientific adventure for you!

2011-2012 After School Program Session Descriptions

Fall Semester-Biological Brainiacs will feature:

Animal Instincts
Ever wonder what makes a kangaroo a kangaroo? Is it that big tail? Animal Instincts will explore animal adaptations. We will learn how animals survive in their habitats and how animals work together.

Chemistry Chaos
A chemistry lab is a good place to be! In Chemistry Chaos we will make things pop, change color, erupt and bubble. It is all science!

Something’s Fishy?
In Something’s Fishy we will unravel some of the mysteries of the deep! Exploring the elusive Giant Squid and whale migration patterns will make the mysteries not so mysterious. We will also see how tsunamis are formed and why they are so dangerous. Get your mental diving gear ready to join us!

Spring Semester-Scientific Superstars will feature:

Invention Convention
Have you ever heard the saying “necessity is the motherhood of invention?” During Invention Convention we will discover how some of the things we use every day came about. Did you know that several of our modern conveniences were invented by NASA scientists for the space program? We will explore how something goes from a rocket ship to your home!

The Great Scientists
The great scientists of the past all had one thing in common. They were inspired! During these weeks we will be inspired ourselves as we discover several great scientists and recreate some of their greatest experiments.

Robot Rumble
Have you ever thought about how a robot works? What exactly is a robot? In Robot Rumble we will start by learning how robots “think” and continue on until we create a robot of our own!
